Bon jour, loving living small friends! I am back from my honeymoon travels to Europe. We had an incredible time in France, Italy and Switzerland. I am definitely still dreaming of our time spent in the wonderful cities, towns and villages throughout Europe that we visited. We captured so many sweet moments, including smells, tastes, portraits, architecture and style throughout our trip and I am excited to soon share many of these pieces with you on loving. living. small.

Above are just a few of the many pictures I snapped of one of our honeymoon adventures. We enjoyed the lovely town of Cassis, a beach village off the coast of France in the Provence region. I am still dreaming of this time – the property that we stayed in a for a few days was a renovated 300-year old house on a hill and surrounded by vineyards. The owners had the absolute more exquisite design style and I can’t wait to share a full hotel tour in a few days. Until then, I wanted to share about a fave small space accent that we actually took with us on our adventures.

Before we left, I gave my husband a bunch of little gifts for our trip. One of the items was the Roses Diptyque candle. He had gifted me this many years ago and it has been a scent that we both love dearly and one that reminds us of each other. So – we brought it on our honeymoon and we enjoyed the beautiful fragrance as we adventured.

Now that we are back home, our candle (and the fragrance it creates in our everyday lives) reminds us of our honeymoon travels and adventures. I certainly feel that this is a best small space accent, also writing about this years ago when I worked for Apartment Therapy. I believe that adding decor and accessories that make  your house a home that you love to be in and enjoy is most important. Plus the candle packaging is gorgeous and can be used once the candle wax is done. I made my Baies candle a vase.

Hi, it’s April.

We are in the 2nd quarter of 2012.

I moved to NYC a decade ago.

I got married 6 months ago.

This little blog just celebrated it’s 4th birthday in January. (here is when we turned 1, 2 & 3)

I wanted to check in and share where I have been the last few months. Offline, I got married to my longtime love and we are heading off for our European honeymoon very soon. I recently accepted a brand new job as Communications Director at a wonderful non-profit based in Washington, DC. We work with city leaders and design experts on impactful changes in their communities. My new job is full of great opportunities to work with talented people and change-agents and to promote design change.

I have been spending my online time in some other places than loving. living. small. these days but my heart will always be with this blog. I am pretty active on Pinterest, pinning my little heart out to 40 boards, including TRAVEL 2012, INTERIORS LOVE, FOOD STYLE, FASHION LOVER and STRING LIGHT LOVE to name a few of my faves. I am also blogging weekly for Flor. Love this company and their products. I also love the blog which is curated by 4 other awesome bloggers. I feel like Musings is a special gem of a lifestyle blog that really has great content and style. Click here to check it out.

Hard to believe that my husband and I are packing our bags and heading off on our European honeymoon very soon. We are insanely excited to travel to Europe and beginning our adventure in Paris. Are you a pin-lover like me? I have been pinning away since June 2010 and love the style, ease and accessibility of Pinterest. This platform has helped me tackle some small space ideas, move to the east coast, covet amazing interiors, plan my fall 2011 wedding, prep for my new home, entice my travel bug (can you guess one of the cities we are traveling to on our honeymoon in a few weeks?) and more. I have been all over *dream home* items lately. There’s something exciting, special, fun and a bit mysterious about creating identifying dream items that could one day be real home items. I was reading this post the other day about 10 inspiring photos from looking up and looking down. I really love taking photos and often bring my camera out and about as I take on the day. My theory – you never know where you’ll spot a cool design pattern, a gorgeous color or inspiration for your (small) space. I did a small round up of some recent fave photos of the ground – can you believe? Full of design and style, texture and inspiration. Do you take pics of the ground? Only a few more weeks until daylight savings and tons of evening sunshine to soak up. Even though we’ve had a super mild winter on the east coast, I am excited about embracing my spring fever. I certainly wasn’t expecting a new affinity for zebras to become part of my design palette lately but it has and they are here – and I love it! Aside from my new blog main stage featuring a photo I snapped in GoodWood of some very cool and stylin zebra accents, I have absolutely fallen in love with Scalamandre Zebra wallpaper. I am sure you’ve seen this pretty paper before – in Kate Spade stores and films like The Royal Tennenbaums. It’s completely whimsical with an awesome color contrast in tons of different colors (I am loving the gold and brown).

So where does all my love of wallpaper and Scalamandre lead me? Well I hope to a project this year. We are house hunting right now and I’ve been dreaming of wallpapering an entire bathroom – the perfect small space tip for making a super small space appear bigger and look great. Below is a great bathroom space (although not Scalamandre but still a fantastic hexagonal design) that is wallpapered from head to toe. I think Zebras would look great in a tiny space too.
